Job Description:
Lead software engineering efforts to transform a research prototype for a humanoid hand with tactile sensing into a robust production ready demo.
Day to Day Responsibilities:

Implement, reorganize, and harden demo software for stability, clarity, and real time performance.

Integrate robotic hand control with tactile sensor data streams and maintain end to end data flow.

Incorporate frequent research updates into the codebase and ensure reliable operation under evolving requirements.

Maintain clean repositories, conduct code reviews, and enforce lightweight software hygiene practices.
-
Develop simple testing and validation routines to ensure critical demo functions remain stable.

Provide APIs and interfaces for UI/UX teams to visualize tactile and kinematic data in real time.

Support real time communication between the demo stack and visualization/control layers.

Collaborate with researchers, tactile sensing engineers, ML engineers, and UI/UX designers to maintain demo readiness.

Must Haves:

Strong software engineering experience in robotics or real time systems.
-
Proficiency in C ( 70 80%) and Python ( 20 30%).

Experience in ROS 2 (or ROS 1) for building middleware and real time robotic applications.

Hands on experience with robotic hands, manipulators, or tactile sensing systems.
-
Familiarity with ROS Control and controllers such as PID and impedance control.

Ability to debug across hardware drivers, middleware, and high level behaviors.

Track record of taking prototypes into production (software focus).

Nice to Haves:
-
Experience naming or working with the EDS in ROS 1 or ROS 2.

Demonstrated optimization expertise (e.g., improving performance, latency, throughput).

Demonstrated experience in turning research code into production quality code.

Prior work in a high visibility demo environment.
-
Some in person presence ability (at least once a week, if required).
