Job Description:
The Project Engineer supports capital and facilities projects by managing electrical system design, execution, and field coordination within a heavy industrial environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation
- Prepare electrical designs, schematics, and construction documents
- Conduct field surveys and validate layouts before, during, and after construction
- Oversee on-site project execution and coordinate contractors
- Support troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup of electrical systems
- Review and approve drawings, submittals, and installation work
- Collaborate with internal teams on facility improvements and production support
Requirements:
- Must-Haves:
- 5–7 years of experience in a project engineering role
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field
- Strong experience in heavy industrial environments
- Knowledge of industrial power distribution, PLCs, motor controls, and low voltage systems
- Experience with electrical codes and standards (IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, etc.)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and construction coordination
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Nice-to-Haves:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or FE license
- Experience with building automation systems and material handling systems
- Background in project management or preventative maintenance
- Experience with audit compliance and commissioning processes
